Spring Break

Finally after finishing midterms it is time for spring break! While most people head to Florida, Cancun and other warm places, none of us really are. Chelsea and Kala were supposed to head to Canada with me, but unfortunately could not. Therefore, the two of them are just headed back to their hometowns. Megan went to IUP with her man and Spencer went back to Burgettstown to work doubles at TGIFridays for the first half of the week. However, Spencer does have an exciting end of the week.

Like I said before, I don't really know if I can reveal where Harmon Creek is heading for the end of the week. I can say it involves Nashville, Tennessee. Hopefully very soon I can tell you exactly where and why they went!

If any one is in town tonight, head to Town Tavern. $10 wristbands for all you can drink from 8 to 10.

And tomorrow head to The Royal on route 88 for 13 live boxing matches!

Hope to see you at those events and have a good break! I'll be in touch from the country north of us!

Confusing Roommates

What do you do when your roommates confuse you?

I wonder that quite often, especially since there are 4 other girls I live with. I mean, people say things then one day later it totally changes. I know I do that too but usually I try to explain myself. Is it wrong to ask questions? Or should you?

Should you pressure them or just let it go?

I know it's a weird question but I always wonder.

There really is no way to support us this week because everyone is going home for spring break! Just wish us good luck for midterms!

Lent and Facebook

I know that these topics are very random, and I feel like I am being sacrilegious by putting them together. Maybe not too much, but some people don't use Facebook just to keep in touch...

Well, anyways, this applies to my roommates as well as every person in college, and abroad. First, about Lent. Since that starts this coming Wednesday...

Someone recently brought it to my attention that a new fad this year is people giving up networking sites (click here to see article) such as Facebook and MySpace for the six weeks of Lent. In a way, I think this is a good idea. For instance, I know Spencer spent two hours on it today to put pictures up. Chelsea and I have been checking both sites all day as a way to avoid homework. And most people spend more time doing that than doing homework! So is that a cleansing for not only the Lenten holiday but also for people in general. Maybe we should try talking to people in general and not "stalking" them on Facebook. I think my roommates and I need to debate this, what do you think guys?

If you guys haven't had a chance to listen to Harmon Creek, make sure to check out their MySpace. They have a big gig/audition coming up but I don't want to be the one releasing the idea!

And basically to continue the idea that we center our lives around social networking sites, can anybody tell me how you can get to Facebook on the Blackberry Pearl? Like I've said before, I'm not too technologically savy...

Happy Birthday to You ... Or all of us?

Happy Birthday Chelsea!

So today is Chelsea's 21st Birthday. We all went out last night to celebrate it with her, and of course that entailed 4 girls getting ready in one bathroom. Now, we have three bathrooms and three bedrooms, why would it be necessary to be in one? Well, clearly because Chelsea was having a fit that she didn't look good (as always she did).

But a quick question for you all, including my roommates and I, to think about, how is it that girls blow things so far out of control? We do not mean to do it, then we do, and it leads to a screaming match followed by a group hug.

Yep, that was our night!

Is anyone else ready for Spring Break? I am. Even though we are going to Canada, where it is colder... and more snowy... and did I mention not even 30 degrees as of today!?

Don't forget to wish Chelsea a happy birthday if you see her!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I'm sure so many blogs are about that today, but mine is not so much a cheerful one per say. All of us roommates found something to do for the holiday in a way that made us happy.

As I said earlier this week, Kala went home and went out for Valentine's Day dinner last night.
Megan went to her house and is spending the day with Nate.
Spencer is going to a Valentine's Day party.
Josh and I are going shopping and having dinner at Houlihans.

But now there's Chelsea. She has her anti-Valentine spirit, you know, she is one of those that believes Cupid's stupid. It is one of her least favorite holidays of the year, and she wants it to remain that way.

Spencer, Josh and I tried to convince her to go to the party. That is where most of our friends will be ... single or taken. So she would not be a third wheel or left out in any manner.

How can you get someone out of their anti-Valentine blues? Maybe next year we will have a solution for her.

I know one way you can cheer her up... Come to Buckheads Monday for her 21st Birthday Fiasco! Yikes =)

Guy Valentine Gifts .. Needed or Not?

When I was still in high school, my mom always said it was not necessary for a girl to get a guy something for Valentine's Day. She said most guys are not into the gifts given around that time. I have contemplated that over the years. This Valentine's Day, my roommates and I tried to solve the problem.

Kala decided to get her new boyfriend a picture frame with the two of them in it. Spencer was on the rocks with her boyfriend, and they broke it off before then. Megan and her guy decided to not celebrate the day (they recently got together). And Chelsea is single. So that leaves me. With the boyfriend of almost a year, even though we have really been together a year and a half.

What do I do for him? I have already gotten him picture frames, pictures, food, clothes and most things a guy could want. And, to put a damper on gift giving ideas, he's on a diet.

Any ideas on what I can do? Apparently my roommates and I haven't quite figured it out yet. I've walked in and out of stores for the past two weeks.. HELP!

How can you support us this week?
As always, Spencer is bartending Thursday at 110 and Chelsea and I will be at Town Tavern Friday!

(Kala and Megan are going home... that's why we can't exactly support them!)

Invasion of Privacy?

How much is too much? Such a cliche statement, I know. But really?!? In this case, I mean, is it overbearing to ask your roommate(s) where she/he/they are if you have not heard about them in awhile?

For instance, Chels and I got back from the Point Park basketball games last night and had not heard from Megan or Kala all day. We knew Spencer was home. And all we knew was that Kala and Megan had been at dinner with family. However, most people return from dinner by 10 - at the VERY latest. And neither of them had, and no word from them.

Now, here is were it gets tricky. Both of them were with, let's say, friends. I think that is when a girl friend may be interfering. Especially if a girl is on their period and wants private time!

Just curious. What do you think? Should a roommate check-up or is that asking someone to be too parent-childish? The way an over protective parent is . . .

Steeler Parade

So, us girls have lived in Pittsburgh for two Saint Patty's Day parades (at least), minus Meg who has yet to experience one, and Spencer and Kala got to experience the last Steeler's parade in 2005. But for whatever reason, I don't think any of us girls expected it to be quite what is was.

For starters, Spencer did her usual morning wake up call for all of us - and it didn't start off the way she planned (at least that is what I would guess ... Chelsea would not wake up to give her a shirt). But then we got random visitors from Burgettstown and finally had an apartment full of friends.

Now, if I was smart, you would have a personal video account of what occurred during the Parade right outside our door. Yes that is correct, we did not have to wait in the cold for hours like most people, we stayed here (quite frankly because even getting food was not an option if you needed to cross The Boulevard). But back to the videos and the new video camera my parents got me for Christmas. Really I use it, and I have 15 videos saved on it. However, it takes me awhile to even find the videos after I take them!

And I had this problem post-Superbowl too - I don't know how to control the color settings! I accidentally shot in black and white at night and in awful lighting during the parade.

Just to point out how crazy it was, I'll cheat and steal a video from y-o-u-tube =)

(I probably could have found better quality but this was one of the closest one's to where we were standing ... made me feel like I was not cheating so much!)

So if anyone can help describe EASY ways to work the DXG 5.1 Megapixel digital video camera, please let me know.

Do you think technology is getting out of hand? I mean, there are now cell phones made for three-year-olds!

Support Megan and the rest of the Point Park volleyball team this Saturday at Robert Morris University's concession stand. The team is raising money for their Florida trip.

Pittsburgh wins the Superbowl

So like every other college person in Pittsburgh, Chelsea and I took to the streets after the amazing win by the Steelers. Of course, this is after I almost had a heart attack within the last two minutes of the game... I had my best friend tell me that is NOT OK over football. Clearly me, a die-hard Pittsburgh girl, begs to differ.
But anyways, I thought my room had a lot of estrogen in it. Well, when we hit the streets of Southside, the city of Pittsburgh proved me wrong - we're normal compared to most girls! There was girls climbing all over guys and signs and bar doors. I think the entire city needs disenfected. At least Southside...

And probably where the fires were in Oakland. At least that could have burned the germs away.

How can you support us soon?
Good question... maybe I can become supportive and figure out what my roommates and I will be doing =)
